This Lung Cancer Awareness Month, share how easy a lung cancer screening is with a Veteran you know

Guests/Speakers

Lysa Buonanno, Dr. David Carbone

In this ROS1 Biomarker video you will learn the answers to these questions:

  1. What does ROS1 positive mean?
  2. What does it mean to have a ROS1 mutation?
  3. Can I pass this on to my children?

ROS1 biomarker Lung Cancer

Lung cancer researchers have found that lung cancers are different from each other. Some lung cancers are driven by a mutation in the #ROS1 gene. If your lung cancer happens to be driven by a ROS1 mutation, there are effective treatment options available to you. Because driver mutations, like ROS1, are genetic abnormalities, many lung cancer patients are concerned that they might be able to pass lung cancer down to their children.

Dr. David Carbone, of the James Cancer Center at Ohio State University, says, “ROS1 is a gene that is present in everyone’s body.” But, he goes on to say, that the genetic abnormality that drives ROS1-positive lung cancer is only found in the lung cancer tumor. Therefore, it can’t be passed down to the lung cancer patient’s children.

In this Hope With Answers℠ video, you will meet Lysa Buonanno, who is a lung cancer patient and very active advocate. Lysa asks Dr. Carbone about the new and exciting research that is helping to increase the ROS1 lung cancer survival rate. Research is helping more people who are #livingwithlungcancer to live longer lives and with better quality of life.
